Nakon što je u rujnu službeno stigao iOS 9, a u listopadu 9.1, danas Apple pušta još jednu nadogradnju svog operativnog sustava i to pod brojčanom oznakom 9.2. Nova verzija iOS-a ispravlja određene bugove koji su neke korisnike mučili u dosadašnjim verzijama. Jedna od najvažnijih novosti je uglađeniji rad multitasking izbornika.
Od ostalih novosti koje dolaze s iOS-om 9.2 Apple izdvaja 3D Touch geste u iBooks aplikaciji, poboljšanu stabilnost safari preglednika, te poboljšanja u prebacivanju fotografija putem USB-a.

iOS 9.2 is now available to download from the Software Update section of the iOS Settings app. According to Apple, the update contains improvements and bug fixes, including:
- Apple Music improvements:
- You can now create a new playlist when adding a song to a playlist
- Your most recently changed playlist is now listed at the top when adding songs to playlists
- Download albums or playlists from your iCloud Music Library by tapping the iCloud download button
- See which songs have been downloaded with the new download indicator next to each song in My Music and Playlists
- See works, composers and performers while browsing Classical music in the Apple Music catelog
