RIM je danas, na BlackBerry Developer Day eventu predstavio prvi BlackBerry tablet uređaj nazvan Blackberry PlayBook. Radi se o uređaju sa zaslonom dijagonale 7“ i debljine samo 9,7mm. Podržava tehnologije WebKit, HTML5 i Flash 10.1. Uređaj je pogonjen Cortex A9 1 GHz dual-core procesorom, 1GB RAM-a i grafičkim akceleratorom. Podržava reprodukciju HD videa rezolucije 1080p, a nudi HDMI i USB povezivost. Operativni sustav temeljen je na QNX Unixu, a imat će potpunu OpenGL I POSIX podršku. S obzirom na ove specifikacije, kao i sam naziv uređaja očlito je da RIM cilja na izvjesnu kombinaciju poslovne i gamerske publike. PlayBook će biti moguće povezati s ostalim Blackberry uređajima putem bluetootha, a u prodaji bi se trebao pojaviti početkom 2011. godine.
